It is a great and special pleasure to inform you that the jury of the
Digital Musics and Sound Art category of Prix Ars Electronica 2011
has selected our work:
„⁄S⁄O⁄N⁄I⁄C⁄ ⁄Z⁄O⁄N⁄E⁄S⁄“
for a Honorary Mention! We are very, very happy about this decision!

Sonic activists Anna Ceeh and Franz Pomassl, run the electronic label and sonic research platform Laton. They have organized and curated numerous sound and media festivals and events in Austria, Slovakia, Belarus and Russia with participation of the most important representative artists (Zavoloka, Terre Thaemlitz, Mika Vainio, Alva Noto, Pan Sonic, Tommi Grönlund, CM von Hausswolff, Mesak etc.) of the genre.

Over the last years, with the project „Sonic Zones“ they have pioneered an extensive network and intense exchange with the sonic scenes and its protagonists of the successor states of former Soviet.

This mammoth work comes punctuality 20 years after the collapse of the Soviet Union. It takes us on a sound archaeological research journey into the sonic terra incognita of the successor states of the former USSR, with its urban moloch mega-cities and millions cities, autonomous and isolated areas on the edge of the world, led us in the Arctic, the Urals and Caucasia, Siberia and in the far Far East, dives in and co-discoveres with us this living electronic sound cultures, spanning 10 time zones of this huge terretoriums.
